As Mommies, Amanda and I were absolutely devastated to learn of the horrific murder of a beautiful little 7 year old girl named Somer Thompson. The events of her disappearance and murder hit Amanda P. especially hard since Somer was from Jacksonville, too. We are teachers, we are mommies, protecting America's children is a huge concern of ours.
When Amanda P. learned of the Somer Thompson "Somer's Sunshine 5k" she began to dig and see what we could do to help. While we're still working out the official details, we've signed on to both support and sponsor this first annual 5k that will support the Somer Thompson Foundation.
Mommy Jogger will be helping to promote this race. We're gathering a team of Mommy Joggers to run the race, volunteer at the race, and have a water stop. We are hoping that we'll be able to sell our awesome gear there in order to donate proceeds to the foundation.
